Just Let God Love You – A Reflection on Divine Acceptance
In the hustle of modern spirituality, many believers find themselves striving—working harder, doing more, trying to earn what has already been freely given: God’s love.
“Just Let God Love You” is more than a title—it’s an invitation. An invitation to rest, to cease striving, and to experience the transformative power of being loved by God without condition or requirement. While the specific book by that name isn’t in my current reading stack, the theme echoes throughout Scripture and is deeply embedded in the writings of Christian thinkers like Carl H. Stevens Jr., whose work emphasizes grace, identity in Christ, and living by faith rather than fear.
Letting Go of Performance
Too often, we carry a performance-based mindset into our relationship with God. We evaluate our spiritual worth by how well we pray, serve, or resist temptation. But grace isn’t a reward for good behavior—it’s God’s nature extended to us at our worst.
To “just let God love you” means:
- You don’t have to earn His love—it’s already yours.
- Your failures don’t disqualify you from intimacy with Him.
- Your identity is not in what you do, but in Whose you are.
Grace Is the Ground We Stand On
Stevens once wrote that “the Holy Spirit quickens the human spirit to bring in the light of God’s Word.” That quickening begins not with our effort, but with receiving the love of God. When we receive love, we’re empowered to love others, forgive more deeply, and live more freely.
Practical Ways to Receive God’s Love
- Spend time in Scripture focusing on God’s promises and character.
- Quiet the inner critic with truth: God’s love isn’t based on your performance.
- Receive forgiveness fully and without delay. Don’t punish yourself for what Jesus already paid for.
